Mist padded along the bridge, stepping over cracks when she saw them. She looked up into the sky, took in a deep breath, then let it out. The warm breeze ruffled her fur, as her gentle blue eyes matched the sky. Her tail swung side to side slowly. The sky was filled with white stuff, as the ocean was filled with boats. It seemed like everything was polluted, or filled with many other things. As another breeze went by, Mist took in the scents. Oil, gas, humans, ocean, dogs... her thoughts went off. She would never be patcher. Although, she did want to try, too many dogs would say that she drifts off too much. Or that she is too interested in Blade to think for herself. But was it true? No one seemed to care what her part of the story was. She did drift off sometimes, but only to think about the problems ahead of time. But, she didn't like Blade! Did she? She shook her head. NO! she thought to herself. YES! YOU DO LIKE HIM! a voice inside her head answered back to her. Mist sighed and sat down when she reached the middle of the bridge. The sun was almost gone(sun set! XP), and she sat there alone. No dogs where there to go to sleep yet, not even the pups. She brought her paw up, licked it, then rubbed it over her face. "Why can't anyone understand me?" she asked herself aloud. Her gentle blue eyes turning brighter against the dark sky, she laid down, laying her head on her paws. Then she closed her eyes, not expecting for anyone to come to her. Not thinking that anyone had been listening to her.

Nali was taking a walk through the park. The soft green grass was cool against her pads. The flowers and blossom trees filled her nose with great scents. The sun, dimming, making the sky turn to pink, orange and yellow was still warming, but the oncoming night let off gentle cool breezes. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. Her brown eyes gleamed, when you looked into them, you could see the beautiful sunset in them. She smiled, but when she turned she saw Mist. She looked kind of confused... sad? She wondered if she should just let her be. She took a few steps away, but then decided to see what was wrong. "It's a really good place to think, isn't it?" she said, silently coming up beside her friend. She sat down beside Mist. "What's up?" she asked.

Mist's ears twitched as she heard Nali's voice. "Yes it is." she replied as she stood up. The breeze ruffled her fur again, as her tail thumped the ground. Her gentle blue eyes looked at Nali's brown eyes. "Um...nothing really. What about you?" she asked her. The sunset glowed in an orange yellow color, so beautiful. She took in a deep breath, taking in the scents of the beautiful flowers. Her white fur laying flat on her body after the breeze left, she looked strait at Nali.

"Oh I was just going for a run," she said. "I saw you sitting her. You looked... confused," she said, her brown eyes showing concern and curiosity. "Were you thinking about Blade?" she asked, tilting her head to one side.

"NO! Of course not!" she said in a laugh. "Why would you think that?" she asked confused, yet a smile was on her face. Her blue eyes twinkled with mischievous.

Nali giggled knowingly. "Yes you were," she said, smiling. "You like him don't you?" she asked. After a long pause, she said, "He's a great dog... stubborn yes, but... he's very understanding," she said softly. "For what it's worth, I think you guys look great together," she said, looking down at her paws.

Mist smiled, then looked at her, "No. You and him do. Trust me. I might be drifting off like most dogs say, but I'm not brainless. You like him too. You guys look perfect for each other. Just tell him how you feel." she told her friend as she licked her ear. Then she sat back down infront of her and smiled.

"Blade and I are too.... different.... to mention we've known each other since forever. It would be way too wierd. I... I don't like him like that," she said. "My feelings for Blade are not... love feelings. I mean I love him, but I don't think I'm IN love with him," she said, mostly trying to convince herself. "Besides, I'm not his favorite person," she said, laughing. "And of course you're not brainless!! You're one of the smartest dogs I know," she said. "I think YOU should tell Blade how you feel," she said, nudging her friend. "And... besides, even if I... do like him, it's not worth hurting you over," she said, licking her friend's ear a couple times. "We're best friends, she said.

Mist smiled, "Ok. Since neither of us are going to admit it, how about we BOTH go talk to him? I'll be with you, and you'll be with me. We'll go together, and see what he says." she suggested to her friend. "Things like this would never hurt me. Seeing my best friend hurt over something that I might have done, now that would hurt me." she explained. She sat up, liked her friends cheek, then looked at the pack of dogs, "What do you say? Should we go talk to him?" she asked her friend. Then she went over to her ear and whispered, "Yes. We are best friends, and always will be no matter what happens." Her crystal clear blue eyes shined in her brown ones.

Nali thought and smiled. But she shook her head. She was WAY too stubborn to go and talk to Blade, especially when they weren't the best of friends. "I.... don't want to," she said nervously. "There's no reason for it anyways," she said. "If YOU want to talk to him, then you can, but.. me... no. There's nothing to talk about with me," she said. She sat up proudly. "I'm not the kind to be into males," she said, giving her chest a few licks. "I'm more focused on adventure... which we need some," she said.

Mist shook her head, giggling. "That's just like you Nali. The kind yet stubborn!" she laughed. Then she looked at the other end of the bridge, "Adventure, ey?" she laughed. "I'll race you to the end of the bridge! " she announced. Her eyes glowing brightly with excitement. "READY? SET? GO!" she yowled and took off. Her gentle paws barely making a sound against the hard surface of the bridge.

Nali laughted. "Sounds like a challenge!" she said and when Mist said Ready, set go!, she leaped and practically glided across the bridge. Her muscles flexed beneath her pelt and her legs moved so quickly. She was far ahead, but then she saw at the corner of her eye a dark shadow of a dog. She then stumbled and tripped. She rolled off the bridge and fell into the water..

Mist, behind Nali, saw her fall in the water. She crouched on her haunches, then leaped high over the railing. Looking down into the water, she saw Nali's body. SPLASH! She landed in the water. She quickly swam over to Nali, grabbed her by the scruff, and pulled her into the shore. "What was that for, clumsy paws!" she laughed, taking in breaths. Her blue eyes shining, as her fur was dripping wet. She shook her white fur dry and looked at Nali, waiting for her answer. Her paws standing on pointy rocks, smiling.

"Sorry, I saw... I-I thought I saw," she stammered, looking over to where she saw the black dog. But it wasn't there. "Nevermind. I guess I thought I saw something, but just tripped," she said, panting. She shook her fur dry. "Let's get back to the Shore," she said, more cheerfully and she and her best friend bounded back to shore.

Mist smiled and nodded. As they quietly padded back to the shore, she calmly looked at her friend. "What exactly did you think you saw?" she asked her curiously. She really wanted to know! Even if she didn't want to tell her, she'd make her! She looked at her friend, eyes clouded in confusion. What could it have been? she asked herself.
